This morning the list of the 10 most popular dog breeds in the US was released by American Kennel Club.
In first place is the Labrador Retriever and the Yorkshire Terrier in second, and the ever-popular German Shepherd in third.

There is a scam email going around with the subject line  ”GORGEOUS YORKSHIRE TERRIER FOR FREE GRAB HER NOW!!!” often with a photo of a cute little Yorkie.
DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL – it is a scam – now known as the Nigerian “free puppy” scam. Far from being ‘free’, the missionary who is giving the puppy away asks for around $500 for fees……

Is the cute little Yorkshire Terrier the latest celebrity must-have accessory?
Well, according to a recent news article, no celebrity worth their salt would be seen without a cute little Yorkshire terrier or two.
Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), Tara Reid and Michelle Rodriguez have all been pictured with their lastest handbag-sized accessory, their Yorkie.
But its not just the girls…. Ryan Thomas, Orlando Bloom and Mr Grumpy himself – Simon Cowell all have Yorkies too!
No wonder they’re a hit all round – their loveable, cheeky terrier personality makes a great pet to have for company. Their little size makes them easy to carry and require very little exercise. And their long coat is perfect for brushing and styling and dressing up.
But at the end of the day, cute or not cute, Yorkies are DOGS not fashion accessories!

The winner of America’s Most Pampered Pup arrived in style at the famed Palm Beach Chesterfield Hotel today via chauffeured Bentley Arnage. Introduced by Jennifer Hovey, owner of The Pampered Pup boutique which sponsors the annual event, the winner of this year’s contest is “Phoebe My Love” a three-year old Teacup Yorkshire Terrier.
The online contest had over 10,000 pampered pooches entered and more than 1,000,000 votes cast before “Phoebe” was proclaimed the grand prize winner. Chosen from 12 monthly winners, she lives in Alpharetta, Georgia with her owners Liz and John Biltgen.

Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has been arrested and cautioned after an argument with police over his pet Yorkshire Terrier, according to reports.
The row seems to be that officers who wanted to put his Yorkshire terrier in quarantine, suspecting that it had been taken abroad, then back to Britain, without proper vaccinations.
According to the reports, Mourinho refused to let police take the dog and ended up receiving a caution for obstructing police at Belgravia police station.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said officers went to an address in central London with an officer from the Animal Health and Welfare Service.
Scotland Yard said the dog was to be seized for alleged offences under the Animal Health Act of 1981 and the Rabies Order of 1974. Rather than handing over his dog to officers, he bundled the dog away, claiming it was now on the loose.
So somewhere in South London, there might be a Yorkshire terrier on the loose!
