It’s the ultimate strength test for dogs.
The International Weight Pull Association’s Dog Weight Pull attracted dogs large and small, from far and wide.
Their mission: Pull as many bags of dog food as they could for 16 feet.
Dogs ranged from a 16-pound Jack Russell Terrier that pulled 360 pounds to a 155-pound St. Bernard that pulled 2,160 pounds.
A 2-year-old American pit bull terrier, Tar-Baby, who weighed in at 31 pounds, hauled more than 900 pounds in the weight pull. His owner said, “It’s a good way to show the public that pit bull terriers are not just for illegal purposes, and he loves it!â€

Is your terrier on DoggySnaps yet?

Now dogs have got their own social networking site, nicknamed ‘FaceBark’, where dogs have their own profile, their own friends and can send their favourite dogs a treat!
The website has a serious side too. It has been created by the Dogs Trust who care for more than 14,000 dogs each year and the site contains entries from stray or abandoned animals the charity is trying to rehome.
Sounds good to me!

I recently read that:-
Dublin City Council has recently banned 11 breeds of dog (including Rottweilers, Bull Terriers and German Shepherds) from all their properties, including houses, flats and estates. Existing tenants are being given a chance to rehome their animals, but if alternative accommodation can’t be found, then the dogs will be destroyed.
It also seems likely that these breeds will be banned from public parks – which means dog owners living in private accommodation will also be affected.

I have to admit my love of terrier dogs has grown over the last couple of years since we got our very own, West Highland White Terrier, Montgomery Burns. Or Monty, as he’s generally known.
Since having Monty, I can spot a terrier a mile away! Just by the way they walk and carry themselves or play!
Terriers are full of mischeif and playfulness.
Our Westie is generally ‘house-trained’, but definitely not obedience trained! I’m not sure if other terrier owners have this problem, or I’m just a very bad dog trainer!
Let me know if your terrier is perfectly trained!
