Is the cute little Yorkshire Terrier the latest celebrity must-have accessory?

Well, according to a recent news article, no celebrity worth their salt would be seen without a cute little Yorkshire terrier or two.

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), Tara Reid and Michelle Rodriguez have all been pictured with their lastest handbag-sized accessory, their Yorkie.

But its not just the girls…. Ryan Thomas, Orlando Bloom and Mr Grumpy himself - Simon Cowell all have Yorkies too!

No wonder they’re a hit all round - their loveable, cheeky terrier personality makes a great pet to have for company. Their little size makes them easy to carry and require very little exercise. And their long coat is perfect for brushing and styling and dressing up.

But at the end of the day, cute or not cute, Yorkies are DOGS not fashion accessories!

Bull Terriers Banned

> Terrier Dogs — westie @ 8:02 am

I recently read that:-

Dublin City Council has recently banned 11 breeds of dog (including Rottweilers, Bull Terriers and German Shepherds) from all their properties, including houses, flats and estates. Existing tenants are being given a chance to rehome their animals, but if alternative accommodation can’t be found, then the dogs will be destroyed.

It also seems likely that these breeds will be banned from public parks - which means dog owners living in private accommodation will also be affected.

Even the President had a Terrier

> Scottish Terrier — westie @ 2:22 pm

An exhibition unveiled last week at the White House Visitor Center shows a variety of White House animals-in-residence.

The one I like the look of is Fala. A Scottish Terrier owned by Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Roosevelt’s Scottish terrier named Fala has gone down in history as one of the most beloved White House pets. “Roosevelt spoiled him and took him everywhere. He would sit in on meetings with Winston Churchill,” Schank said. As part of the war effort in 1942, it was announced that Fala had given up his rubber bones to promote scrap collection.

The terrier attended Roosevelt’s funeral in 1945. He never really adjusted to the loss of his master. When Fala died in 1952, and was buried in the Rose Garden, next to the sun dial, near his master.

Fala is probably the only president pet to be memorialized with a statue. A statue of Fala stands next to one of his master at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in Washington D.C.
